With power still down to 621,000 homes it may be time to winterize.

As of 11/7/2012 more than 621,000 homes and businesses remained without power due to Sandy. With weather getting cold those without power need to start thinking about draining water lines. In my home I can turn off the main water feed and back drain the water lines in the house. I have had to rebuild a bathroom because of a broken water line. So I made sure I could drain the whole house in case of a long power outage in the middle of winter. The other issue to think of is getting some RV antifreeze for toilets and P-traps. These are designed to hold water and can be problem areas if they freeze. So at this point if you do not know when power is going to be restore you should think of winterizing your home to prevent further damage.
